Is what I’m thinking at the moment. I like making music, I have been producing actively for nearly a decade and learned a lot in the process. I’d also like to get recognition for it and move it to the next level by receiving some help and representation from a label, as many artists do. “You just have to put your music out there and keep sending demos”, is a piece of advice I’ve internalised – not sure how accurate that is. So far it hasn’t been fruitful but what if I just did it a little bit more? Just to figure out if it actually works. After all, I’ve always been busy with other things while trying to forward my musical career and didn’t quite have the time to pursue labels full time.
I found a website with a list of record labels. Since I don’t know how to scrape and I’m a little tied up with time at the moment to learn it, I decided to get a freelancer from fiverr to help me out. I sent out a message with the details I wanted and now it’s just waiting. Bit of an anti-climax, isn’t it? Well, after I (hopefully) get an eager scraper to help me out, I’m planning on sending my demo to all of the contacts. It does take away from the personalisation if I do it the mass e-mail way but hey, it’s not like record labels have very personalised replies either – if any. It’s just how the music goes.
I’ll post more when I progress with the issue. It’ll be an interesting experiment.
